Description
This project highlights the development of Mira, an all‑in‑one environmental and occupancy sensor designed to make buildings smarter, more efficient, and privacy‑preserving.
Building on KOOPMAN’s vision and part of the Interlight Thinq range, 4MOD designed the entire hardware and mechanical architecture to simplify the inherent complexity of integrating multiple sensing technologies. By consolidating thermal imaging, motion detection, air‑quality sensors, noise analysis and light measurement into a compact, industrial‑grade device, we ensured both functional performance and manufacturability at scale.
Our approach transformed a highly complex multi‑sensor system into a reliable, streamlined product that meets all user expectations without compromising privacy or robustness.

Technical requirements
Mira integrates thermal people counting, motion detection, air‑quality monitoring, noise sensing, and light measurement into a compact ceiling‑mounted device. Its thermal sensor enables accurate occupancy analytics without capturing identifiable images, ensuring full privacy.
The main technical challenge was combining multiple sensing technologies while maintaining precision across different room sizes and mounting heights. Mira supports applications such as HVAC optimization, space utilization, smart lighting control, and traffic flow monitoring.
By delivering real‑time, non‑intrusive insights into how spaces are used, the project contributes to more sustainable building operations and better occupant comfort.
